Remember when Tiffany Haddish wore a showstopping traditional Eritrean gown on the Oscars red carpet earlier this year? Probably, because how could you forget?
In case you did, here’s a little refresher:

Well, at the 2018 Emmys, she used her look to pay tribute to her father’s native land once again, albeit a bit more subtly this time around. Haddish, who is nominated for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series, arrived at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Monday evening in a custom Prabal Gurung striped gown.
The homage was sweet considering that Haddish’s dad, Tsihaye Reda, was absent for most of her life. When he passed away in 2017, she paid tribute to him on Instagram, writing, “I didn’t know my father growing up, and I used to work bat mitzvahs and weddings and whenever the father and daughter dance happen, I would get so jealous because I thought that would never happen for me.”
However, she adds, he did make it to her first wedding. He told her, “I am so proud of you. Even when you wrong you are right in my eyes. I am here for you.'”

The actress told Giuliana Rancic on E!’s Live from the Red Carpet that she asked the designer to give a nod to the country, and he did so with the red, green, blue, and yellow hues from the African nation’s flag.
Fans on Twitter had another idea about what could have inspired her look:
No word yet on whether or not the white Alexander McQueen dress will make another appearance once she heads inside the venue, but we’re into the Yipes, Stripes look too, especially considering the sweet meaning it holds.
