New York-Prabal Gurung is continuing to solidify his place as one of America’s best
contemporary designers. The designer can now add a new award to his resume.
On November 13, The designer will receive an award for Career Achievement
in Fashion from the Dallas chapter of Fashion Group International.

Gurung was selected for his designs, as well as his efforts to aid the
victims of two massive earthquakes in Nepal where he grew up. “Not
only is Prabal
Gurung an influential designer in
today’s fashion world; he also has a strong commitment to make a difference
in the global community,” Chuck Steelman, regional director of FGI Dallas
and vice president of fashion presentation at Neiman Marcus, was quoted
saying in WWD. In addition to his efforts for earthquake relief, Gurung is
also a cofounder, board member, and ambassador, at Shiksya Foundation
Nepal, which supports education for underprivileged youth in Nepal.

The Career Achievement Award is considered FGI’s most prestigious award,
and for a man so dedicated to both fashion and philanthrophy it is well
deserved. Gurung will receive the award at FGI’s annual Night of Stars
gala, where FGI also awards 45,000 dollars in cash and prizes, The Night of
Stars is also used to benefit scholarships for fashion and merchandising
students.
