World’s first true artists might just have been discovered. A series of paintings in Borneo cave was discovered in 1994 but the paintings found inside have been dated to some 40,000 years ago.

The Guardian quoted Maxime Aubert, an archaeologist and geochemist at the Griffith University in Queensland, Australia, as saying, “It is the oldest figurative cave painting in the world. It’s amazing to see that. It’s an intimate window into the past.”
The painting looks like a cracked reddish-orange slender-legged animal. The animal is slashed with a straight line and the scientists believe that the artist was hungry at the time of drawing this masterpiece.
