Unidentified person(s) broke into a house at Walhekarwadi in Chinchwad when the owner went to perform his father’s last rites and stole valuables worth Rs 2.19 lakh. The burglary came to light on Monday when he returned home.

An officer from the Chinchwad police said the complainant, Baburao Bhaskar Darade (42), and his family went to their native place on October 3 as his father had passed away.
“After performing the last rites, Darade returned home on Monday and found the main door’s lock was broken,” the officer said, adding the suspects made off with an LED television set and gold ornaments.
