For a number of years, John Cena was undoubtedly the top name in WWE and the face of the entire company. Cena’s days as a full time competitor in WWE may be over now, but with All Elite Wrestling potentially on its way to becoming a true alternative to WWE, it’s an interesting time to be a wrestling fan right now. Cena himself seems to agree. In a new interview with Chris Van Vilet, Cena talked a bit about AEW and said that he welcomes the potential competition. Cena explained that competition encourages companies to be at their very best in order to stay ahead. Cena also says that the wrestling business grows stronger with more promotions around, so he is eager to see what AEW will be able to accomplish.
“Competition also stands for the state of the wrestling economy and it’s really good right now. There are a lot of people overseas and smaller promotions are getting larger and more traction which means that you are consuming more sports entertainment and/or wrestling which is great for everyone.” Cena said.

As seen during SmackDown this past Tuesday night, Kevin Owens has been recruited into The New Day. Owens is taking the spot of Big E, who is currently out of action with an injury. Several fans believe that Owens is likely only in the group so that he can challenge Kofi Kingston for the WWE Championship. Big E put out a tweet seemingly warning Kingston and Xavier Woods of Owens and his treacherous ways. Owens is a self-described “prizefighter” who has turned on past tag team partners Sami Zayn and Chris Jericho in the past. Owens will accompany Kingston to the ring during SmackDown this Tuesday for his match against Shinsuke Nakamura. Be on the lookout for any shady behavior on Owens’ end during the match.

It’s been a strange couple of weeks for Ring of Honor when it comes to the promotion’s booking of former WWE Superstars Enzo Amore and Big Cass. ROH reportedly booked the two stars to make their debuts as invading wrestlers during the G1 Supercard earlier this month. ROH did not broadcast their debuts and it has since been reported that the promotion has no plans to use the team on future shows. Big Cass is keeping the storyline alive though. He released a new video online discussing ROH fans and their perception on him and Enzo. He also cut a promo on former ROH World Tag Team Champions The Briscoe Brothers. This may seem to indicate that a rivalry between the two teams may begin soon after all.
