The future of Lucha Underground remains uncertain for the time being. The El Rey Network still has yet to renew the show for a fifth season, but the show has not been cancelled by the network yet either. In the meantime, the stars of Lucha Underground want out of their contracts with the show. Earlier this year, Joey Ryan, Ivelisse Velez, King Cuerno, and others were able to successfully file a lawsuit against Lucha Underground over the terms of their contracts. They have since been let out of their deals and are now free to compete anywhere they choose. However, more members of the roster have decided to file suit now. Some of Lucha Underground’s most recognizable names have taken legal action this week.
It was reported by Lucha Central yesterday that three more names from Lucha Underground have acquired legal representation to fight their way out of their deals. Former Lucha Underground Champion Jeff Cobb (aka Matanza Cueto), Sonny Kiss (aka XO Lishus), and Famous B are the latest talents to sue the show. Lucha Underground apparently tried to prevent Cobb from signing with ROH and Kiss from working with AEW at different points. Willie Mack may also be joining the lawsuit since the NWA reportedly recently sent a cease and desist warning if they continued using him. With the future of Lucha Underground still in doubt, it seems likely that these three names will also be let out of their contracts at some point soon.
WWE Superstar Rey Mysterio is celebrating a major milestone in his pro wrestling career today. As of today, Mysterio has been competing in the ring for thirty years. WWE commented on Mysterio receiving the honor on Twitter earlier today, which prompted a response from the masked wrestler. Mysterio thanked all of his fans who have continued to support him over the years and said that he wouldn’t change any aspect of his career. Mysterio first started wrestling when he was just 14-years-old. He has competed in WCW, WWE, and other promotions all over the world, and he’s a former WWE Champion as well. Mysterio returned to WWE full time last year and is now feuding with Samoa Joe for the US Championship on the Raw brand.
