It has finally happened! After weeks of promising Kofi Kingston a singles match against Daniel Bryan for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 35, Vince McMahon finally granted Kingston his wish during last night’s episode of SmackDown. At WrestleMania 35, it will be Kofi Kingston vs. Daniel Bryan for the WWE Championship. This will mark Kingston’s first time competing for the world title at “The Grandest Stage of Them All,” and this will also be his very first singles match as well. Kofi Kingston has been competing in WWE for eleven years consecutively. Kingston has won numerous tag team and midcard titles throughout his WWE run, but he now has the chance to become a world champion during WWE’s big show this April.
Kofi Kingston has earned a WWE Championship match against Daniel Bryan. It all occurred on SmackDown last night when Kingston’s New Day partners, Xavier Woods and Big E, were put in a tag team Gauntlet match. Woods and Big E were able to defeat Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson, Shinsuke Nakamura & Rusev, and The Bar decisively. They were set to take on The Usos next, but the brothers decided to forfeit the match out of loyalty to Kingston. Their biggest challenge came in the form of their final opponents: Daniel Bryan and Rowan. However, The New Day still ended up getting the win via countout. Kingston celebrated with them in the ring as the rest of the SmackDown roster members cheered them on after the match was over.

This is undoubtedly the biggest match of Kofi Kingston’s long career with WWE. Kingston has had a large following as a member of The New Day, but he rose in popularity earlier this year after he replaced Ali in a Gauntlet Match before the Elimination Chamber show. Kingston gave an impressive performance in that match and in the Elimination Chamber match itself. He was later promised a match against Bryan at Fastlane and at WrestleMania, but Vince McMahon later changed his mind because he did not feel like Kingston belonged in the championship match. However, there are no more obstacles for Kingston to overcome as McMahon finally announced that Kofi will be taking on Bryan for the title on April 7th.
