All of the rumors and all of the speculation that have been mentioned throughout the summer has come true. Former Ring of Honor World Champion Adam Cole has officially joined WWE at long last. PWInsider broke the news that Cole had signed with WWE earlier this week. He was rumored to be training at the Performance Center this week as well. As if that was not enough, Pro Wrestling Sheet managed to release a photo of Adam Cole chatting with NXT wrestlers at an Orlando airport before departing for last night’s Takeover show in Brooklyn. During that show, Adam Cole finally made his debut for NXT, and it was a bit more than just a crowd shot.
The show ended with the NXT Championship match pitting Drew McIntyre against Bobby Roode. McIntyre eventually defeated Roode with a Claymore Kick to win the NXT Championship. He celebrated in the ring with the title, but just as the show was about to go off the air, recent NXT signees and former ROH stars, Bobby Fish and Kyle O’Reilly, suddenly entered the ring. McIntyre was then ambushed by the debuting Cole, who held McIntyre’s title briefly before posing with Fish and O’Reilly to close out the show. Indeed, the rumors are true! Adam Cole has officially joined WWE and it appears as if he is going to be working on NXT from now on.
Adam Cole was kicked out of the Bullet Club faction and left Ring of Honor back in May of this year. He has been a free agent ever since, and he was apparently a hot commodity after leaving ROH. He attracted numerous offers from independent promotions, GFW, and WWE. In the end, Cole decided to sign with the latter option as most fans believed that he would. Numerous wrestling fans believe that Adam Cole perfectly fits the ‘sports entertainer’ role that WWE loves, and he is also a very accomplished pro wrestler. For these reasons, Adam Cole may flourish in his new WWE role. It is true though, Adam Cole has arrived in NXT, BAY BAY!
