Former NXT World Champion Shinsuke Nakamura was recently interviewed by CBS Sports to promote this Saturday’s NXT TakeOver: Orlando special.
During the discussion, Nakamura was asked whether he prefers to be drafted to the RAW or SmackDown Live brand whenever he is called up to the WWE main roster.
“I want to be on SmackDown because it has AJ Styles, Randy Orton and John Cena — a lot of dream matches I can do,” said Nakamura. “Also, Monday Night Raw has a lot of friends there [who previously wrestled in Japan] like Finn Balor, Samoa Joe, [Luke] Gallows and [Karl] Anderson, which would be much comfortable for me.”

Nakamura concluded, “But first I need to concentrate for TakeOver: Orlando now and Bobby Roode.”

The addition of Shinsuke Nakamura to WWE’s NXT European tour in June has cooled talks of his move to the main WWE roster but ultimately, it should not be taken as a sign one way or another. The reason for this is because WWE added Nakamura to the tour only because ticket sales were disappointing and not as any sort of long-term plan for him.
The fact that he was not originally included on the tour does seem to imply that WWE had plans to have him on the main roster before June though it remains to be seen if these plans are still in place or if they have delayed his debut until the summer.

There’s also been some internal debate on which brand Nakamura will debut on. Reportedly, Triple H would prefer to see him on Smackdown whereas Vince McMahon wants him to debut on Raw and generally when these sort of things come to a head, it’s Vince who gets his way.
The plan right now is for Shinsuke Nakamura to debut on the main WWE roster very shortly. The date is unknown but there is speculation it will be on the Raw after WrestleMania
According to a report at Sportskeeda, Shinsuke Nakamura is expected to debut on Smackdown this coming Tuesday in Orlando, FL
