On the latest episode of Voice Of Wrestling, Forbes contributor, Alfred Konuwa joined the show to discuss WWE’s Emmy For Your Consideration event.

The event taking him by surprise:

“Absolutely it did, when I got the invite it seemed like a lot of the executives within WWE were jazzed up and surprised about it themselves saying it was a huge deal. For Your Consideration events are very common, every TV show has them and WWE has just thrown their name into that hat, you would be surprised that WWE would even consider trying to rub elbows with the highbrow ranks of the Emmy’s.”

Could WWE win?

“Listen, never say never, I don’t think it’s a possibility this year, I think this is just WWE dipping their toe in the water and now you are just going to see them throw more money at Emmy award nominated writers and make those overall changes to the product over the next few years to the point where every year they are in the FYC event consideration and the more and more they keep pounding the pavement with that I think it’s going to become mroe of a consideration and a possibility for them to not only get nominated but to win.”

WWE’s biggest mainstream game changer:

“Ronda Rousey, I think stands out as WWE’s biggest game changer,  WWE’s relationship with ESPN was huge and the fact they had Coach their to help cultivate that was a big deal but not now Ronda Rousey is there. Rousey is a mainstream athlete who is going to garner that mainstream coverage where you will see clips of her on ESPN. If you saw that Hall Of Fame video that UFC put together you would see how big of a deal she was on making UFC an estate hole on the mainstream product.”
