A meeting will take place in January to discuss a contract extension for Senegalese international forward Bamba Dieng with Ligue 1 side Marseille, according to La Provence.

On November 15th, Marseille President Pablo Longoria praised Bamba Dieng at a press conference: “He has made important changes, he is training in an impressive way, I want to say. This summer, we could criticise… Now, he deserves the good things that are coming to him. He came back on all fronts, he listened. He has an incredible humility during training.”

During this media interaction, the president of Marseille also announced his wish to extend the contract of the Senegalese striker, whose current deal ends in 18 months time, in June 2024. In an article devoted to the 22-year-old player, La Provence ensures on the matter that a meeting is scheduled for during the month of January between the OM board and Bamba Dieng’s agent in order to discuss extension.

It remains to be seen whether the talks will result in a new contract. One thing is certain: relations between the different parties have warmed again, just a few months after a tumultuous summer when Bamba Dieng was pushed out of the 1st team and came close to joining Lorient, Leeds and Nice in the last moments of the transfer window.
