L’Équipe report that Ligue 2 strugglers St Étienne have decided to part with 24-year-old midfielder Mahdi Camara before the summer transfer window comes to an end – the problem has been the lack of proposals from other clubs for the player, for the Frenchman who is under contract with ASSE until June 2024.

Ligue 1 outfit ESTAC Troyes are one of few current suitors out there for Camara, but would be seeking a loan deal for the 2022/23 campaign.

The two clubs have a good relationship, with ASSE having signed defender Jimmy Giraudon and attacker Dylan Chambost from ESTAC this summer. There is the possibility that Les Verts will sign a 3rd ESTAC Troyes footballer before the summer window is over, with attacking midfielder Florian Tardieu having already agreed personal terms with St Étienne ahead of a possible move, as he is keen to reunite with manager Laurent Batlles.

ASSE also tried to sign 35-year-old striker Yoann Touzghar from ESTAC, but the player is going to join AC Ajaccio instead.
