As reported by L’Équipe, Bordeaux’s young forward Sekou Mara is seeing interest from Atlético Madrid this summer transfer window with Monaco and Lyon among the other clubs also interested in the teenager.
Manchester City have been scouting the 19-year-old forward whose emergence was one of few bright spots in a catastrophic season for Bordeaux who finished bottom of Ligue 1 and were then relegated to the French third tier due to financial issues by French football’s strict financial watchdog, the DNCG. As a result, Ligue 1 club Troyes, supported by the City Group, are also considering intensifying their interest.
With the club desperately searching for an influx of cash as they look to appeal the decision to drop them to National, Les Girondins could ask for as much as €15m to allow the player to leave with bonuses included in the deal. Atléti have expressed an interest in making a concrete offer for the player in recent days, say the sports daily, although Mara still has three years left to run on his current deal in France after seven goals last season.
