Ligue 1 21/22, Round 21 – 16/1/22

RENNES – 6 (Terrier 32, Bourigeaud 43, Laborde 61, Truffert 69, Guirassy 89, 92)

Doğan Alemdar, 5

Lorenz Assignon, 6

Loïc Badé, 6

Warmed Omari, 6

Birger Meling, 5

Benjamin Bourigeaud, 9 – His crossing and set pieces were always a threat and one of each led to Rennes two best chances before they took the lead thanks to another Bourigeaud delivery which caused more havoc. His whipped free-kick second was glorious and his deft pass created the fourth. Ran the game.

Jonas Martin, 7

Baptiste Santamaria, 7

Jérémy Doku, 5

Gaëtan Laborde, 7 – Outmuscled and outmanoeuvred Gregersen and Mexer with ease and might have had more than just the one after he hit the bar with a first-half header and marginally being ruled offside for another before he calmly slotted home for 3-0.

Martin Terrier, 7 – A huge threat both on goal and creatively throughout the first half as he dropped between the lines and drifted out to the flanks and it was he who reacted quickest to slam home the opener. Eased off after halftime and was withdrawn just after the hour.

Others: Truffert 6, Majer 6, Guirassy 8, Diouf 5, Tel 5.

BORDEAUX – 0

Benoît Costil, 4

Timothée Pembélé, 4

Stian Gregersen, 2 – He did well to deflect an early Terrier effort over and cleared a second half Truffert chip off the line but looked out of his depth technically and at sea when faced with the movement of Terrier and Laborde. He clumsily lost possession to Doku who then set up the third. If the plan is for him to replace Koscielny longer term, the club might want to rethink.

Edson Mexer, 2

Ricardo Mangas, 2

Tom Lacoux, 2 – No effect on the game at all and a weak attempt at a header allowed Jonas Martin to create the opener.

Issouf Sissokho, 1 – Excellent last week against Marseille but he was outplayed comfortably by Martin and Santamaria in midfield and he was needlessly sent off after a second yellow early in the second half for a rash lunge, robbing his team of any chance of a result.

Rémi Oudin, 4

Yacine Adli, 2

M’Baye Niang, 2 – Might as well not have played. Completely isolated and completely anonymous.

Hwang Ui-jo, 3

Others: Kwateng 3, Dilrosun 5, Elis 6, Fransergio 3, Maja 5
