RMC Sport report this morning that Lyon could face being kicked out of the Coupe de France over last night’s fan trouble which saw their match against Paris FC abandoned after half-time.
The FFF’s disciplinary commission will begin an investigation into the incidents, which included the throwing of flares and a pitch invasion. The decisions are not expected to come before January 2, when the next round of the competition is due to take place.
Although not every aspect of the evening will come to light straight away, the referee’s report will arrive on Saturday rather than Monday, as it usually would. The sanctions inflicted on OL risk being harsher than usual, given they are now repeat offenders following the incidents in the match against Marseille as well.
A loss for Lyon is a “possibility”, while Paris FC could also be sanctioned as a result of their security failings.
