Globoesporte report this afternoon that the initial diagnosis of Neymar’s injury status is positive for Ligue 1 champions PSG in their bid to have the Brazilian attacker fit in time for the club’s Champions’ League clash with Manchester United on the 12th of February.

Neymar was withdrawn last night during Les Parisiens’ Coupe de France victory over Strasbourg after receiving a knock to the 5th metatarsal in his right foot, a bodily region of weakness for the former Barcelona man, who required surgery on the exact same element of his foot last year that kept him out for 3 months.

The understanding is that this injury sustained last night is not serious, and may not require surgery and has crucially not affected the screw that was implanted in his foot in 2018.

The plan now is for the player to rest it for 10 days, for him to undergo further testing, and then for the PSG medical staff to decide the best course of action.
