L’Équipe report that Lyon manager Bruno Génésio gave Dutch international forward Memphis Depay a dressing down in front of the rest of the squad at the club’s training centre earlier this week, following his outburst to the media where he claimed he “deserves more respect” and “should be playing every match”.

Génésio is understood to have said the following:

“I want to apologise Memphis. I want to apologise for all the times you were late, notably from pre-season this summer, to apologise for all the kit that you wear that does not belong to the club, to apologise for the way you conducted yourself during the warm-up against Angers, your lateness and your lack of effort. Memphis, if you want to have a great career, you must have humility.”

It is understood that the entire dressing room, almost unanimously, supported Génésio’s discourse.
