Lille are expected to accept a second and improved offer from Southampton that was made last night for Sofiane Boufal, according sources close to the player contacted by GFFN.

Southampton’s initial proposal was worth just shy of €15m, which was rejected by LOSC who were looking for €20m plus bonuses.

Southampton yesterday made a €20m proposal, plus incentives offer, which could reach the €25m mark depending on whether or not these bonus requirements are fulfilled.

Lille are fully expected to accept that offer in the coming hours, even though there is expected to be some more negotiation today specifically relating to the possibility of inserting a sell-on percentage clause, something pushed on the part of Les Dogues.

Sofiane Boufal has been offered a five year contract by Claude Puel’s men, as our colleague Mohamed Bouhafsi of RMC confirmed last night.

Puel decided to go all in for Boufal, despite having a phone conversation with Rachid Ghezzal about a possible move.

Ghezzal remains tied up in a contract negotiation dispute with Lyon.

Southampton can be confident now in the likelihood of them landing Boufal. The only possible stumbling block is that another side, of greater prestige, equals the Saints’s offer.

Chelsea, Tottenham and even Barcelona have been monitoring the player’s situation this summer.
