Ligue 1 21/22, Round 23 – 6/2/22

LILLE – 1 (Botman 28)

Ivo Grbić, 1 – An awful mistake led to the PSG opener, fisting the ball back towards his own goal as he came for a low cross before he flapped at a dipping cross which allowed Kimpembe to stab home for a second.

Zeki Çelik, 3

José Fonte, 4

Sven Botman, 4 – Although Donnarumma helped with some weak goalkeeping, he did well to hook in an equaliser but was at fault for Messi’s third as, after a well-timed tackle on Mbappé, he misguidedly tried to clear his lines while still on the ground.

Gabriel Gudmundsson, 3

Benjamin André, 4

Amadou Onana, 5

Timothy Weah, 4

Jonathan Bamba, 4

Jonathan David, 3

Hatem Ben Arfa, 5 – Brilliantly skipped away from Di Maria to stab a cross in for Botman’s volley to equalise and was fleetingly a threat for Lille at times but lacked support and was withdrawn after 70 minutes.

Others: Gomes 5, Bradaric 5, Zhergova 5.

PSG – 5 (Danilo 10, 51, Kimpembe 32, Messi 38, Mbappe 67)

Gianluigi Donnarumma, 5 – Some proactive goalkeeping prevented David from tapping in a first-half cross and he commanded his area with positivity but flapped at Botman’s very saveable effort for the leveller.

Achraf Hakimi, 5

Marquinhos, 5

Presnel Kimpembe, 7 – Made a crucial early block from a snap Ben Arfa effort with his shin and poked home the second. Defended with authority throughout and had no issues with David at all.

Nuno Mendes, 7 – His shimmy and low cross created the chance for the opener and his pace covering for others was an asset while largely managing to contain Ben Arfa and Weah. He should have an assist after he provided the best cross of the game, only for Marquinhos to blaze over late on.

Danilo Pereira, 7 – Did well to follow up to make the most of Grbic’s horrible error and poke home the opener and it was his deflected shot that resulted in a fourth. Imposing in getting through a lot of midfield work.

Leandro Paredes, 5

Marco Verratti, 6

Ángel Di María, 4

Lionel Messi, 7 – Started slowly but grew into the game. It was his cross that assisted Kimpembe’s second, he beautifully dinked home a third and was involved in the fourth. His general weight of pass on its own was perhaps the game’s highlight.

Kylian Mbappé, 6 – Very quiet overall by his standards and looked tired at times but nonchalantly curled in a stunning fifth from the corner of the area.

Others: Draxler 5, Kehrer 5.
