Oh, what’s that? You want another red carpet? Well, if you insist. Today, the 72nd Cannes Film Festival kicked off in Cannes, which has a reputation for bringing out the extravagance in people (notably, Bella Hadid). The first major red carpet did not disappoint, with Selena Gomez, Eva Longoria, Tilda Swinton, Elle Fanning, and more arriving in gowns.
But who needs gowns when there are capes??? The festival has already given us multiple great capes, including one worn by Elle Fanning, whose peach gown fanned out in the back into a sweeping cascade of pink silk. Actress Gong Li, who will be honored with the Women in Motion prize, wore an intricately embellished, pale-green gown with a long, lacy cape. And as always, some left legs (namely Eva Longoria’s and Alessandra Ambrosio’s) have debuted. Hello, left legs.
The 72nd festival will show some highly anticipated films including Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time … in Hollywood, based on the murder of Sharon Tate, and a “hipster-zombie flick” starring Gomez, Adam Driver, and Swinton.
