Tamil Nadu’s capital Chennai is facing an unprecedented water shortage with the supplies almost running dry for days in many parts of the city. It has now reached a point where the Chennai Metro Rail Corporation (CMRL) is turning off air-conditioning to reduce water consumption.

According to The Times of India, the Chennai Metro had started switching off air-conditioners in underground stations during non-peak hours to save water a few days ago, but now air-conditioning units in metro trains are also not working.
