AEW superstar and Executive VP Cody Rhodes issued a statement on his Instagram commenting on the recent hiring of Arn Anderson as his personal coach and advisor for the 2020 AEW season. The American Nightmare reflects on Anderson’s prestigious pro-wrestling career, referencing his old four-horseman days and his knowledge of the business. He also states that he couldn’t be happier to have him in his corner for the upcoming year to guide him on important decisions, including with his management role for the company.
These are mad times. 35 years ago “The Enforcer” Arn Anderson was part of a group that outnumbered and broke my Father’s leg. Today he’s been tasked with managing me on-camera and behind the scenes, and I could not be happier about it. Everything is there to offer from an in-ring perspective. Arn has been competing in the high-stakes money world of pro-wrestling since the eighties and through multiple golden eras. I wrestle with zero fear and the decisions I make within the ring as a competitor and performer are solely mine, but I also never pretend to know it all, so he’s the perfect person to say “NO” when it comes to my management role at AEW. In 2007 when I debuted on television, Arn was there to provide me guidance and positive reinforcement when I walked back through the curtain…but he also would give me an earful when I didn’t deliver or when I settled for less than what I should have. I love that. Firm but fair. Let’s welcome Arn Anderson as The Head Coach for the Nightmare Family in 2020!
The new position will give the Enforcer on-screen time. Check out Rhodes’ post below.
