As previously reported, Smackdown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair was pulled from this week’s Mixed Match Challenge because of a “minor injury” that turned out to be a recent dental procedure. The good news is she’ll be back in plenty of time for WrestleMania week, but a replacement was necessary to partner with Bobby Roode against the RAW duo of Finn Balor and Sasha Banks.
Despite being at an obvious disadvantage, the Irish Lasskicker and the Glorious One made a pretty effective pairing, picking up a somewhat unexpected victory to advance to the finals of the tournament.
While Becky’s participation in this week’s show was certainly appreciated, RAW General Manager Kurt Angle made it clear in a post-match promo that she would not be a permanent fixture in the tournament going forward. Unless her dental procedure turns out to be more serious than previously expected, Charlotte Flair will return to action next Tuesday night as the “Robe Warriors” take on The Miz and Asuka in the tournament finals, with the winning team earning $100,000 for their charity.
